See ๐ฉ Candidate Hard Gates & Red Flags for company-wide eligibility rules (B2B, location default, English, compensation-expectations screening). What follows is specific to this role, including the NSFW note below.
NSFW comfort is the first gate on this screen. Our flagship product is an adult-content AI companionship platform โ do not submit candidates unless comfort working on the business side of that has been explicitly confirmed on a call.
โ๏ธ Top Requirements
- NSFW: genuinely comfortable working on the business side of an adult-content product.
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering, finance, or another relevant quantitative field โ no geography or institution requirement.
- Consulting background: Big4 or middle-tier consulting โ Strategy or Operations practice, 2โ4 years, still Analyst/Associate/Consultant level, not yet Senior.
- Strong analytical toolkit: structured problem solving, financial modeling (P&Ls, unit economics, ROI/payback logic), subscription-business metrics literacy (MRR/ARR, CAC, LTV, LTV:CAC ratio, retention/cohort analysis), and advanced Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, complex formulas, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, sensitivity tables).
- Excellent communication + top-level English: distills complex analyses into crisp narratives for senior audiences โ leads with the answer, then backs it up with evidence โ and can independently build an executive-ready deck, not just fill in someone else's template.
๐ฏ What We Are Hiring For
A hybrid analyst/operator seat โ some weeks are spent modeling a decision, others are spent in the day-to-day of the business, unblocking processes and coordinating across teams. Works directly with the founders and exec team on strategy, operations, and growth โ owns analyses end-to-end: scopes the question, pulls and interprets the data, and turns it into a recommendation, rather than primarily administrative reporting or passive dashboard maintenance. Builds financial models and KPI dashboards and runs special projects; uses Metabase and Excel daily (Metabase not required going in). Full task breakdown is in the candidate-facing JD.
A high-visibility role for someone who wants the pace and breadth of consulting with the ownership of an operator, where they'll directly impact an AI product already used by 50M real users. Comfort with ambiguity and a bias for action: scopes their own work and drives it independently in a remote setting. At EverAI, that means working directly with founders and execs without the layers of a typical Big4 team โ with direct exposure to the executive team and increasing scope and seniority as the company scales.
โ๏ธ Screening Criteria
- Analytical / structured problem solving โ the core consulting skill. Can they list out the possible reasons behind a problem, say what data would prove or rule out each one, and work through it out loud?
- Financial modeling & business fluency โ P&Ls, unit economics, ROI/payback logic, and subscription-business metrics literacy (MRR/ARR, CAC, LTV, LTV:CAC ratio, retention/cohort analysis).
- Data fluency โ advanced Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, complex formulas, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, sensitivity tables) is required. SQL, Python, or BI tooling are not required for this role โ useful if present, not a gate.
- Ownership โ can distinguish "I built / analyzed / recommended" from "the team was responsible for"; probe this on the business-problem walkthrough below.
- Communication โ can independently build an executive-ready deck and manage a working relationship with a Manager or senior stakeholder; fully fluent, spoken and written.
- Education โ Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering, finance, or another relevant quantitative field. No geography or institution attached to this requirement.
- Consulting-firm pedigree โ see Target Company Pools below; tied directly to the Top Requirements consulting-background gate, not a loose sourcing preference.
AI usage is a positive signal for this role, not a hard requirement. Genuine curiosity about AI tools is a strong positive signal, but its absence is not disqualifying โ unlike Ruby Engineer, Product Designer, Senior Product Manager, or AI Cinematic Video Editor, where it is mandatory.
๐ Target Company Pools
| Category | Target companies |
|---|---|
| Big4 (Strategy or Operations/Advisory practice only) | Deloitte, PwC (incl. Strategy& โ PwC's strategy practice, not a separate firm), EY, KPMG |
| Middle-tier โ elite boutique (same bar as Big4) | Oliver Wyman, L.E.K., OC&C, Roland Berger, Kearney, Simon-Kucher |
- Job titles to target โ the entry/first-promotion titles across these firms:
- Analyst
- Business Analyst
- Associate
- Consultant
- Job titles to avoid โ signal someone already past the Analyst/Associate band, too senior (and too expensive) for this seat even if the firm and tenure otherwise fit:
- Senior Consultant
- Senior Associate
- Engagement Manager
- Manager
- Principal, or anything above
๐ฉ Red Flags
- Audit, Tax, M&A due diligence, or financial-advisory background โ even at Big4, this is a different skillset entirely and doesn't transfer.
- McKinsey, BCG, or Bain (MBB) background, at any tenure โ too expensive for this seat.
- Title already past the Analyst/Associate/Consultant band (Senior Consultant, Senior Associate, Engagement Manager, Manager, Principal+).
- Cannot explain personal contribution โ relies on "we"/"the team" rather than a personal analysis or recommendation.
- Background is primarily administrative reporting or passive dashboard maintenance, with no evidence of independent analysis or interpretation.
- Vague or generic analytical examples that don't hold up to follow-up questions.
- Can't connect an analysis to an actual business decision or outcome.
- Claims fluency with a tool (Excel, financial modeling) but can't explain how they actually used it.
- NSFW comfort is hesitant.
This is a Junior seat โ do not reject for university geography, employer prestige outside the pools above, an unconventional path, or lack of Senior-level, company-wide strategic scope. Assess against the bar above, not against a Senior profile.
๐ฌ Recruiter Screening Questions
Use these questions during your screening call. Include a summary of the candidate's answers in your submission notes in Ashby.
- Our flagship product is an adult-content AI companionship platform. Are you fully comfortable working on the business side of that day-to-day?
- What's the achievement from your current role you're most proud of?
- Why are you looking to leave consulting now?
- Walk me through a specific business problem you solved recently โ what was the actual ask, what data you pulled, what you personally did, what you found, what you recommended, and what happened as a result?
- What tools do you actually use day to day for analysis (Excel/Sheets, anything else)? Walk me through how, not just what.
- Tell me about a time a client or stakeholder pushed back hard on your recommendation and you were sure you were right โ what did you do?
- A client's revenue is declining 15% year-over-year. Walk me through how you'd approach figuring out why.
- How would you explain a complex analysis to someone with no data background?
- What are the top 2โ3 things you're looking for in your next role?
- Location / compensation expectations / notice period / B2B?
- What questions do you have for me?
๐ฏ Strong Signals / Sourcing Guidance
Positive signals โ not automatic hard gates:
- At least one promotion within the Analyst/Associate/Consultant band during their tenure. Not required on its own; if absent, explore why during screening (e.g. recent hire, firm's promotion cycle timing).
- Genuine curiosity about, or hands-on use of, AI tools.
- Exposure to tech, AI, or high-growth startup environments (companies/industries).
